ERC Advanced Grant – Andreas Tünnermann

With the ERC Advanced Grant one of the most highly endowed international research awards was awarded to Prof. Dr. Andreas Tünnermann for the continuation of his work on laser physics research.

The MIMAS project will further basic research in the field of fiber lasers. Fiber lasers are solid-state lasers based on fiber optics, which are very robust, well amplified and have high efficiencies.

Research targeted by the team headed by Tünnermann aims at boosting the parameters of fiber lasers and opening up new frontiers in many scientific disciplines, such as material processing, medical technologies and space instrumentation.
